Athens, Georgia – Going through shots from last week’s visit to Charlotte. Shots of the blurred taken on my cracked iPhone 4. This particular day’s outfit I pieced together with little thought. There had been a fair amount of long distance driving which I find comfort in wearing as little flounce as possible. The acrylic wool black oversized blazer [Old Navy] and eggshell 1970s vintage full sleeved prairie blouse [Fur Hat Guild Vintage] are secondhand. The black cropped pants [Target], Gucci knock-off, square framed oversized sunglasses and gold early 1970s style boots [Qupid] were purchased new.
Vinyl [from my personal collection] that I am tuned into right now:
Doin’ the Thing [Blue Note/ 1961] – The Horace Silver Quintet
Candida Cosmica [Dark Entries/ 2016] – Patrick Crowley & Candida Royalle
Honky Tonk Heroes [RCA/ 1973] – Waylon Jennings
Athens, Georgia – Easy-breezy, all-black outfit, accented with gold chunky heeled boots. The outfit at its’ base level is comprised of a structured [meaning ‘boxy”] black minidress and black opaque tights. I’m all about comfort and simplicity. Posting a few shots [taken last week] when I was out of town for Thanksgiving festivities which illustrate “The Look”.
Oh! Here are a few hand-selected records I’m listening to today:
Spirit of Ecstasy/ The Way to Nepal [1980, 2012/ Caprice] – Åke Hodell
TP [1980/ Philadelphia International Records] – Teddy Pendergrass
More Than Little [1971/ Dot Records] – Little Peggy
Somewhere in The Carolinas – Here I am. Outdoors. In a vehicle. Standing in a field. Slouching on your couch. Flipping through vinyl. Donning a favorite casual outfit.
This look consists of a black round neck tee, black high waisted skinny jeans, a pair of Chelsea boots and a black oversized blazer. I wear a fat black digital wristwatch. The blazer’s lapel spruced up, sparingly, with simple decorative pins. It’s easy. Old school artsy: All-black [or, close to it], tailored and a touch slept in.
Hand-selected vinyl for solo listening:
Organ Favorites [1957/ Top Records] – Beverly Laine + Eddie Truman
Street Songs [1981/ Gordy] – Rick James
The Sound of Philadelphia ’73 [1973/ Philadelphia International] – Various Artists
Note: More platters were played on this day. Today’s main goal was to secure the Christmas tree and gussy it up.
Lastly…Would someone, give me a hand and please answer the red courtesy phone?!
1940s vintage cream floor length evening gown with floral abstract print
[Prime Objective Vintage @ Atomic Vintage / Athens, Georgia]
Crop Round Sunglasses [Marni]
Basket in Nude leather bucket bag [Building Block]
Athens, Georgia – Black. White. Color schemes. Go with the flow. Today selected vinyl for listening. One to rock me. One to groove to. One to melt into.
Bad Company’s debut album was chosen with fond memories of when I was a heavy listener of WFMU’s The Best Show. It’s great radio if you’ve never heard it and the album is straight up 70s beer drinking hard rock. Yoko Ono [like Zappa] is an artist which I’m finally able to listen to. I knew “Walking On Thin Ice”. I was perfectly fine with this [because it’s a phenomenal song] but now I need more. The full picture. I love Fly. Last but not least, Black Ivory’s Hanging Heavy. Great tracks, solid album. Bought it for “Mainline”, their 1977 underground Disco hit. Sampled by some [i.e., Deee-Lite’s “Power of Love”]. A dance until you are pouring in sweat production – if ever. Henceforth, my handfan. Crack + pop.

Athens, Georgia – Sitting here listening to an old favorite [The Love Machine soundtrack] and a new favorite [The Ike and Tina l.p.]. The old favorite is a Cool Whip dream. Warwick is slinging her velvety vocals like she’s a bartender flawlessly whipping up cocktails. The instrumental tracks are equally as fantastic. I don’t do drugs but I can only imagine this is what popping Secanol sounded like.
