Athens, Georgia – Easy-breezy, all-black outfit, accented with gold chunky heeled boots. The outfit at its’ base level consists of a structured [meaning ‘boxy”] black minidress and black opaque tights. I’m all about comfort and simplicity. Posting a few shots [taken last week] when I was out of town for Thanksgiving festivities which illustrate “The Look”.

Oh! Here are a few hand-selected records I’m listening to today:

Spirit of Ecstasy/ The Way to Nepal [1980, 2012/ Caprice] – Åke Hodell

TP [1980/ Philadelphia International Records] – Teddy Pendergrass

More Than Little [1971/ Dot Records] – Little Peggy

Athens, Georgia – Several rotations in of re-cycling the look I call – Eleanor. So perfect that I am listening to my copy of the Slaves of New York soundtrack…on vinyl. Oh, thank goodness. The oversized floral print shirtwaist dress – paired with everything else in this ensemble – is brunch-made. I’ve got on heavily patterned socks to add that extra spark to my feet in sensible block heeled slingbacks.

Gratuitous alliteration is maximalism. This lo-fi look was pulled together quickly and on the cheap. If you were looking for brand names, you aren’t going to find them here. [Pro tip: Load the breast of the dress up with cheap mis-matched rhinestone decorative pins – small, medium and large. If it’s cold out, throw a fur coat over the sweater. Think eccentric grandmother of 1968. If you weren’t alive then, dial up photos on Google Images. It’s a lost art, fer sure.]

I wear this outfit pretending I am quickly ushering in chilly temperatures and hearty faire. Truly, this outfit says: homemade chicken pot pie with a topping of crushed quaaludes. Yes, it does. And the music? It’s so good.
